Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes I can offer online sessions either for the full course of therapy or when convenient for yourself if it is not possible to come in person. I use Teams as my online platform.

How long is each session?

Each session is 50 minutes long.

Can I use my health insurance?

Yes, I am a Registered Practitioner with Bupa, AXA, AVIVA, and WPA.

Can I come at a regular time?

Yes, we will find a regular day and time for you to fit in with your life and this often starts on a weekly basis.

Can I come fortnightly?

Yes this can be an option if this would suit your schedule better.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on what we agree to work on together and how much benefit you feel you are getting from the sessions as we progress. On average, session numbers are between 15 and 25. However, a shorter course would be possible with a clear goal for us to work on together. There isn’t a commitment to a certain number of sessions and the cadence of therapy very much needs to fit with you, your life, and how you feel in yourself.

What if I change my mind?

This is absolutely ok and there is no commitment. Therapy needs to be at the right time for you and what is going on in your life.

How long will I need to wait?

We can usually book in an initial consultation over the phone within a week.

Are the sessions confidential?

Your information is treated with respect and confidentiality at all times. I will provide you with a privacy policy which outlines how your data is stored securely. There are the usual limits to confidentiality, which means that if there are immediate risks to yourself or others then I would need to seek the appropriate support at that time.

Can you provide support in a crisis?

Unfortunately not, North Tyne Psychology is not an urgent care service, your local mental health crisis team can be contacted on 111. If there is an immediate risk then please phone 999 or attend A&E.
