With a calm and caring approach, I take care of the emotions and experiences that you choose to share with me. I know it’s difficult beginning to trust someone enough to talk about your personal thoughts and feelings. I have 15 years of experience as a psychologist, a parent and a human with their own life experience in the mixDr Jen, the Psychology Haven
I think it’s important when making a commitment to therapy that you get a feel for the person who you might be talking to.
I know that time is precious in busy lives and you might be trying to decide where to start or who to work with. It’s a big decision making that first call, it involves acknowledging that there’s a problem, and people have often thought about therapy for a long time before taking that first step, often prompted by a growing sense that something needs to change but they may not be sure what or how.
So I’m Jen, a Clinical Psychologist and a mum, and in me you will find a welcoming and calm presence with a wealth of experience in working with a range of mental health difficulties across many settings within the NHS and privately. It’s really important to me to create an environment and a relationship in which you feel comfortable enough to talk about your experiences when you may be going through a vulnerable time in your life. I offer a calm and caring approach, and I take respectful care of the emotions and experiences that you choose to share with me.
I’m a HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Analytic Therapy Practitioner. I’m also a mum of two boys and my little dog Luna. I enjoy my therapeutic work very much and I feel privileged if someone chooses to share their experiences with me.
I remember going to therapy at a vulnerable time in my life and how important it was to feel welcomed, safe and listened to without judgement and to be free to explore and understand my emotions within a regular and calm space. Within me you will find someone who is genuinely interested and caring, with the time and thoughtfulness to be alongside you as you navigate a difficult time in your life. It can be hard to see the way through our problems, particularly if they are longstanding or feel relentless.
I hope to be able to make sense of things together, to come to a shared understanding of what’s going on at the right pace for you, and then to think about how we can start to move towards changing things for the better.
I have 15 years of experience working in the NHS and now privately, and I have worked with a wide range of difficulties and with people from lots of different walks of life. I have an interest in neurodiversity and I aim to practice with a neuroaffirming approach. I bring a creativity to my work and I am able to integrate various therapeutic approaches tailored to your individual needs.
My main therapy model is Cognitive Analytic Therapy and I am also trained in mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, attachment-focused interventions, dialectical behavioural therapy skills, and trauma informed stabilisation treatment. Through a shared dialogue, I aim for my clients to take away a greater depth of understanding about the challenges faced at this point in their lives, as well as practical tools to use beyond the therapy sessions.
